“Lettre à la République” (Letter to the Republic), Kery James (with English subtitles)

This song was released just as the presidential campaign in France was picking up a few months ago. “Lettre à la Republique” speaks to truth to power, touching on topics such as colonialism, Islam, immigration and intolerance in France.

Far-right group, Le Bloc Identitaire, tried to stop rap superstar Kery James (a Guadeloupean convert to Islam) from going on tour with his music and called for him to leave France and move to a “Muslim land.”
