FEARLESS SHARING

The first thing I thought about today was how powerful we’d be if we shared more. Among artists, friends, communities… It seems that sometimes people are afraid to share their knowledge and resource. Maybe it’s because they think someone else will succeed above themselves. Maybe it’s because they are stingy. Maybe it’s mistrust or just a feeling that we are only surviving and can’t afford to give of oneself. Maybe it’s because we are too ‘busy’ or simply didn’t consider it. Maybe it’s a mixture of some or all of these things. Whatever the case, I think that the power of sharing—especially in the case of knowledge, information, stories, skills, perspective, wisdom and creativity can leverage a lot of change in society. I think what we hold back from sharing can hold ourselves back too. When we teach each other to raise the bar, we too, get better. We test the limits we previously thought we had and can exceed even our own expectations. Perhaps most importantly, we also build an arsenal of skills amongst our peoples to achieve higher… To have mobility in our dreams and realities. Can you imagine what it would be like if all artists/RAPtivists had the heart to mentor one another in what they know best? What type of economies of hope, finance and mental resource could/would this create? What type of synergies would surface? A little food for thought. -AishafukushimA
